Fighting to Protect Life Has Never Been Easy
Pro-Lifers faced a setback in the midterm elections but the fight continues on.
The midterm elections happened Tuesday, and while many political commentators on the right and the left expected a “red wave” or a “red tsunami”, we didn’t see anything like that after all was said and done. Republicans regained control of the House of Representatives, and control of the Senate is still unsure. Even worse, three states passed amendments to their state constitutions that guarantees abortion as a right. The pro-life movement had a great victory when the Supreme Court decided to overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey earlier this year, returning the decision of whether or not to legalize abortion or outlaw it to the states.
It can be very easy to be discouraged by these results of Tuesday’s election. But we must not give up. Even if we don’t win politically, there are individual lives that we can save. But even if it becomes more difficult to affect political change to protect unborn human lives, it is not impossible. We must not give up hope. And for us Christians, we believe that we must simply be faithful to fight for the things that please God. The results are up to God, not up to us. Being faithful is up to us.
It’s been a while since I’ve written a Substack, but I intend to do so more regularly. The setback at the polls on Tuesday has inspired me to fire this back up and post more often. I am even going to rebrand and resume my podcast here on Substack. It was originally called Pro-Life Thinking, but my podcast here will have a new name. I hope to continue this Substack and my podcast as places that can train people to make the pro-life case effectively and persuasively, as well as being a place where you can keep up to date with recent news and developments in the pro-life movement. So stay tuned to this Substack, and if you know of anyone who can benefit from this kind of information, please pass this along to them and ask them to subscribe. Let’s continue to defend the life and dignity of the youngest human beings.
